We were contacted by Essex Highways part of Essex County Council to advise on a suitable trenchless technique for the replacement of a culvert.
The 60m long culvert ran below the front gardens of a row of cottages and was showing signs of a partial collapse.
After surveying the site we proposed to leave the old culvert in situ and install a new 225mm pipe alongside using directional drilling.
We supplied and butt fused 250mm OD polyethylene pipe into a 60m length and de-beaded the welds to give a totally smooth internal surface.
The bore was installed at a depth of 1.6m to 1.0m and at a grade of 1:70.
To complete the project a new screened headwall and spillway was installed.
